The stage is set for an electrifying showdown of talent to take place on the shore line of Cornwall’s Watergate Bay, as the remaining tickets to the European Rip Curl Grom Search finals are to be awarded.
Following the competitions held at Croyde Bay and Freshwater West as part of the UK, European and Worldwide Grom Search series, 3 tickets to the European finals remain up for grabs. Ellie Turner from Bude has already secured 1 of the girls under 16’s places after wins at both previous events and a selection of surfers are now poised ready and wanting to join her.

Two days of competition now awaits under 16, 14 & 12 boys’ and girls’ surfers on August 16th & 17th to decide the titles and encourage an enjoyable surf experience for all competitors and spectators. This event is also to be seen as an introduction to surfing competition as Rip Curl and Surfing GB invite and welcome the future of British surfing to wax up and rip shred for the weekend.

The iconic Watergate Bay on the picturesque Cornish coastline will play host to the event, with support of the Watergate Bay hotel and a large turnout is expected, so lets’ hope the surf and weather play ball, we have faith in British summertime.
For those unfamiliar with the unique concept behind the Rip Curl Grom Search, it is a series of search events aiming to identifying the best Under 16 male and female surfers in the UK. A combination of a surfers best two results will identify two male and female surfers whom will then go on to represent the UK in the European finals ‘somewhere in Europe’, and battle to earn a place in the Rip Curl Grom Search World Finals, which last year were held at Lakey Peak, Indonesia.
We are looking forward to seeing you all down at Watergate Bay to battle out for the titles with big smiles on your faces.
Entry closes 5pm Wednesday 12 August
