Rip Curl continue their commitment to the world of Junior Surfing and continue on the global search thanks to partners Smith, FCS and Gorilla grip to seek out the best under 16’s surfers in the land, and Surfing GB are right behind them.

Rip Curl and Surfing GB will be searching the crystal clear waters of Freshwater West in West Wales to find the UK’s best junior surfers on July 11/12th.

The 2nd event of the 2015 Rip Curl Grom Search comes just weeks after the 1st event which is to be held in Croyde, Devon on June 20/21st, with the final event held at Watergate Bay, Cornwall. The event marks the mid-way point in the three event search as part of the European Grom Search series, which in 2015 features 12 events for boys and girls across France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Holland and right here in the UK with Under 16, Under 14 and Under 12 age divisions.

The events focus around introducing young Surfers to the world of competitive surfing in a fun, friendly and memorable fashion. Sponsors, Rip Curl and Surfing GB will be on hand to provide a wealth of awesome activities, prizes and giveaways.

For those unfamiliar with the innovative concept behind the Rip Curl Grom Search, it is a series of events aiming to identify the best Under 16 male and female surfers. The search is comprised of three events taking place at Croyde Bay in North Devon (June 20/21), Freshwater West in Wales (July 11/12) and Watergate Bay in Cornwall (August 15/16). A combination of a surfers best two results will identify two male and female surfers whom will then go on to represent the UK in the European finals somewhere in Europe, and battle to earn a place in the Rip Curl Grom Search World Finals. Previous Grom Search winners include Gabriel Medina, Matt Wilkinson, Owen Wright, five times world champion Stephanie Gilmore and more.
